So life has been a little busy that few weeks. I cannot believe it has been a full month that we have been living in Luanda together. Here is a "top 10" for our first month, in no particular order:
- you find out truly how much you need and don't need when your air shipment is still sitting on the ground in Houston
- having 3 year olds argue in front of you about what they like has become one of my favorite things to watch. "I love batman!" "I love princesses" "I like the color blue" "I like pink"
- sleeping under a mosquito net is similar to being under a tent, but in the house!
- $15 for a loaf of sliced bread, that's just plain stupid!
- Chinese color crayons are the worst on the planet. All they do is break!
- a cup of coffee is still one of my favorite things in the morning
- never under estimate the power of sunscreen; use it! And the spray can does not work properly, just look at the continent of Africa I have on my back!
- appreciate the conveniences of home! Sometimes we have to go to 4 different grocery stores to get everything on our list!
- never has English speaking friends been more of a relief then nowadays. I spend most of my day butchering Portuguese, it is so nice to share a beer with people who can speak English!
- sitting under the shade of the Boabab tree comes second to a Live Oak, but it's still pretty cool!
- I am so happy to have my wife and kids here, I couldn't make it without them!!!
One month down and 2 to go until we are in Guadalajara for Ryan and Cindy's wedding. I cannot wait to hug my parents and share a shot of tequila with my brother as he experiences one of the most exciting memories of his life! It will be a much needed escape from Angola for the whole family!
